Minding the compliance police instead of managing risk

Compliance drives identity management growth

I saw this little nugget this morning and I love the way Novell pitches themselves as the dominant player in IDM - identity management. If business is so good, then why do they need the regulator to help them drive sales?

Recognizing Superior Performance

My buddy Issac Botbol from IB Communications specializes in workplace training for Hispanics. I usually see Issac at the morning minyan and his insights on Hispanics are almost always applicable to programmers as well. Amazing, isn't it?

A few years ago, during my stint at Intel Jerusalem, there was a discussion about the place of money in motivating programmers. "Hey Doc, want to take a look at this?"

The cardiologist, a bit surprised, walked over to where the mechanic was working on the motorcycle. The mechanic straightened up, wiped his hands on a rag and said, "So Doc, look at this engine. I open its heart, take the valves out, repair any damage, and then put them back in, and when I finish, it works just like new. So how come I make $39,675 a year, a pretty small salary and you get the really big bucks ($1,695,759) when you and I are doing basically the same work?"

The cardiologist paused, smiled and leaned over, then whispered to the mechanic................................"Try doing it with the engine running."
